The Training Wing team kicked off 2021 with Capt (Davie) Dodds at the helm and Training Warrant Officer WO2 (Topper) Harley, both with a firm grasp of the reins, the team were primed and ready to plan the regimental training requirements for the year. This year the Training Wing team would complete courses as part of their own career development but also influential in the qualifying of 17 Light Cavalry Crew Commanders, 4 D&M Instructors, 4 Signals Instructors, 23 RAC Junior Commanders, 18 JKL Drivers, 13 JKL Commanders, 16 LR GS Drivers, 11 SV drivers and 4 BFA drivers. A staggering 220 courses have been booked for SP throughout the regi- ment this year, all this as well as deploying on annual
ranges and various regimental exercises – nothing short of outstanding!
January and February kicked off with a bang as we cracked straight on with ranges which were split between KTC and Castlelaw. A range period that was expertly planned by SSgt (Eddie) Mitchell MC, and SSgt (Andy) Colclough, was successfully delivered. It ensured competency and currency for the regiment to carry out its task as Lt Cav regiment at readiness, should we be called upon to do so.
