Remembrance Shield – Nov 21
The football event started in 2019 returned in 2021 during Remembrance week in support of the Army Benevolent Fund. An outstanding effort of team play saw the Regiment victorious, beating the RAF 4 -0 in the first game, followed by a tough but well contested 1-0 over our REME neighbours, 2 CS Bn REME. The event raised over £300 for the ABF Charity on the day. Cpl Linney mentioned that “It was a great to be back playing team sports again, after a such a long period without” & Cpl Chilvers reiterated the fact that “it
was a really enjoyable event which raised a fantastic amount of money for a great Charity”.
Tin Run 2021 – Monthly
The ‘Tin Run’ is a charity concept which began in January 2020, where soldiers take part in Regimental PT (usually with a twist), and they bring along a tin of food, which is then collected by the RAPTCI and distributed amongst local foodbanks. It is of immense credit to SSgt Baldwin that the idea has now been adopted across the Army - a simple but very effective way to help society’s most vulnerable. The Tin Run is conducted on the last Friday of every month. A 5km race is usually conducted in either running kit, boots or carrying weight with obstacles thrown in. Prizes in the form of medals are handed out for the best com- petitors. The event is now firmly part of the regimental battle rhythm and integral to our community engage- ment strategy. The picture shows SSgt (SSI) Baldwin & Cpl Sean King helping out at the Foodbank staff after one of the Regiment’s donations.
Looking forward.
2022 will see the Regiment gearing up for operations and the Gymnasium will be central to developing the physical excellence required for long range recce activity. The staff stand ready to ensure all soldiers are given every possible opportunity to achieve the very best of their potential.
