Support the Charity that supports you – for life.
Since being founded as the Army Benevolent Fund in 1944, we have supported soldiers and veterans of all cap badges – both Regular and Reserve – from every conflict: from World War Two, Korea, and Northern Ireland, to more recent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Although we changed our name in 2010 to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, our mission remains the same: to provide a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families.
Each year we provide financial assistance to more than 4,500 individuals, across cases ranging from housing needs, education and re-training, mobility and elderly care. We also make substantial annual grants to up to 100 other charities, such
as SSAFA, Combat Stress and the NSPCC, which deliver specialist support on our behalf. We receive no statutory Government funding, so fundraising is essential for us to continue our work.
Cambridge UOTC has supported our Charity superbly in recent years, with teams taking on
the Oxford UOTC in the Varsity Triple Crown Challenge, while other groups have conquered the Scottish Highlands in our flagship challenge event, The Cateran Yomp, raising money for our Charity and benefitting from a fantastic adventure training opportunity at the same time.
We’re constantly adding to our portfolio of fundraising events and challenges, and our Fundraising Army provides a fun and exciting way for Cadets to compete against one another by hitting fundraising milestones and climbing through the ranks. If challenge events aren’t your thing, why not organises your own curry evening with friends and fellow UOTC members, as part of our Big Curry campaign? Register to receive your free fundraising pack, packed full of delicious recipes, fundraising hints and tips, and refreshing hand-wipes to clear away the evidence once you’re done!
