Operation Christmas Child 2021
By Reverend (Sqn Ldr) Dawn Colley
RAF Wyton were invited to contribute to the ongoing work that the Samaritans Purse does in providing children who may never receive a Christmas gift or a Christmas Box. Huntingdon Methodist Church launched the appeal locally and I suggested that the community at RAF Wyton may like to help.
The boxes will be delivered to children in need around the world to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way. This year we have heard Belarus, Serbia, Albania, Liberia, Nigeria, The Middle East Refugee Camps will receive them from the UK. For many of these children, the gift filled shoebox is the first gift they have ever received.
The appeal was launched in late October and between November 15th and the 22nd, Huntingdon Methodist Church became a National Collection Centre receiving the filled gift boxes. We received 15 wrapped shoe boxes for RAF Wyton. As this was a new initiative, we were not sure how much uptake we would get from the community.
By close of play on Friday 19th November I rang Mrs Sue Shorter who was the individual co-ordinating at Huntingdon Methodist Church to inform her that I was about to drop off 90 shoe boxes that had been received. My office really did look as though Christmas had come early. In the following week I received a further 2 boxes which were also taken to Sue. This meant that 92 boxes in total came in from the RAF Wyton community.
The generosity of spirit of all those who contributed is greatly appreciated and I know that the children who receive your gifts will know that they are loved at this time. Many thanks to all who got behind this project.

May you all be blessed.
