Battle eld Tour – Ypres, Belgium

On Monday 12th September 2016, military staff from Dental Centres across BFG took part in a Battle eld Tour of Ypres, Belgium. The study was organised by Maj Porter
with a guided tour looking into the in uential events of the First World War. The aim of the tour was for us to get a better understanding of the medical and dental support provided during WW1, and the effect that has had on us as an organisation today.
Two people from each dental centre were tasked to complete a presentation on historical factors ranging from  ghting power to Corps history. These took place throughout the day with each pair given 10 minutes to educate the group on their delegated topic.
Departing from BFG on Sunday 11th September, we made our way to SHAPE, in Belgium, which took approx. 5 hours. There were service stops every couple of hours
to enable everyone to have their fair share of driving, and luckily enough there wasn’t much traf c, which meant us arriving early!
Upon arrival at SHAPE, we were greeted by Cpl Romain, who showed us to our accommodation. We received a brief by
