 The Light Dragoons’ Charitable Trust
The Light Dragoons’ Charitable Trust (including the Colonel’s Appeal Fund) exists to provide support to serving and retired members of the Regiment and its antecedent regiments by way of helping those in need or suffering hardship and distress. This is achieved through making grants, gifts or payments for services or facilities. Secondly, the Trust also provides financial support to the serving Regiment which allows the Commanding Officer to fund regimental sport, Adventure Training and other key elements of regimental life. Thirdly, the Trust (with the Light Dragoons Heritage Fund) preserves the traditions of the Regiment and its antecedents and fosters esprit de corps within the serving Regiment and the Regimental Association.
The Trustees of The Light Dragoons’ Charitable Trust meet biannually to agree the objectives of the Charitable Trust, and to determine priorities. The Finance and General Purpose Committee consisting of The Colonel of The Regiment, the Regimental Secretary and two Trustees, meets at least quarterly, and have authority to make decisions, which do not require full approval of Trustees.
