Matchday for the lads
Next up, 1RSME which was to be our first league game of the season. Former Central Premier Division winners, we knew we had a tough game on our hands. Unfortunately, it was a defeat for us but not all was lost, a gallant performance from all, and a missed penalty to equalise late on by goal scorer LCpl Raygun Gurung had the game finish 2-1 but we look forward to the away fixture and hopefully, can get our revenge.
The Abbotts Cup this year was postponed to a winter fixture to ensure both the WOs & Sgts’ Mess and Cpls’ Mess could field their strongest teams. The JNCO’s have been searching for a win since this memorial match was first played and this year, their time had finally come. The game was played down at Tidworth Oval with the Regiment in full support to watch the goal-fest that unfolded with the usual heckling which kept it an amusing afternoon.
