   Armed Forces Day 2020
AFD June 2019
– Liverpool
Albert Docks
On the 27th June 20, 208 Battery RA participated in the Armed Forces Day celebrations at the Albert Dock in Liverpool City Centre. Between two groups we manned a regimental gazebo, pinz and guns display, and various other kit displays for the public to see.
This was whilst a second group would rotate and be based at the ‘Adventure Dock’ which was run by an external company, who allowed serving members of the battery the chance to have a go on the water- based assault course along with family members for free, to show their support to the Armed Forces.
  Annual
Deployment
Exercise (ADE)
2019
ADE 19 saw 103 Regiment Royal Artillery deploy to Otterburn Training Camp in order to conduct a series of training exercises, adventurous training, cultural visits, and social events. 208 Bty RA were able to field 2 x Detachments of 10 in the Regimental Military Skills Competition with Team A under Capt Stephenson coming 1st and Team B under the BK Capt Busby making it a 1,2 for the Battery. As the largest deployed Battery on the Camp we were also able to form a Platoon on the Infantry Skills Ex, which involved: reaction to orders, harbour routine, recce drills and implementation of attack orders. Defending the Harbour Area on the last
morning with a small rear party under command of the BK and supported ably to the last man with Bdr Holmes, and LBdr’s Milton and Fraser. The final dawn attack was carried out under the watchful eye of Capt Stephenson and the Platoon Sgt (BQMS SSgt Standish). 208 Battery had once again come out on top in the field.
With morale high after seeing success in training, 208 Bty RA were involved in two days of adventurous training walking a section of Hadrian’s Wall and a cultural visit to Edinburgh Castle to view 105 Regiment Royal Artillery gun firing from the castle walls.
After some down time in Edinburgh, the Regiment began a five-day, dry gunnery exercise which would be assessed by the National Artillery Association. With 208 Bty RA proudly setting the standard the Regiment took the competition head on, conducting orders, recces, and fire missions. Upon being marked on the oper- ational behaviour technically and tactically upon the gun positions and command posts, 103 Regiment Royal Artillery won as the best performing Artillery Reserve Regiment in the Close Support role.

On a sun drenched Sennybridge Range (you don’t often hear that!), 208 Bty Firing one of its Guns, seen here under the Detachment Commander Bdr Shacklady. Not a drop of rain all weekend, it doesn’t get any better.
