enjoyed providing firepower demonstrations and general capa- bility briefs to Estonian, US, French and Canadian forces, which was rewarded in turn by attached JTACs from O/HQ Battery giv- ing battery personnel the chance to seen CAS in action. Away from the E Battery’s core function as armoured Gunners, Capt G Jobbins RHA and Bdr Walton excellently planned and delivered Ex GOTHIC SOLDIER, a week long dismounted infantry exercise on the South Tapa Training Area, which was designed to reaffirm our dismounted skills and provide a skill base for battery per- sonnel to deploy on the Battle Group ALDP, required for career progression. There was opportunity however, for troops to step outside of their comfort zones, whether that be organising JNCO Development Days to Parnu, or taking part in Battle Group box- ing, where LBdr Greenan and Gnr Smith both won their bouts

and Gnr Smith was awarded “Best Fighter”. A number of troops from E Battery were able to advantage of AT being run in thea- tre, such as Sea Kayaking and Mountain Biking, whilst others made good use of the wonderful Baltic Summer, wading through swathes of mosquitos to go Stand Up Paddleboarding and enjoy the Estonian countryside. In September, E Battery passes on the Estonian torch to B Battery and begins to process of recovery back to the UK for some long overdue time at home.
Shiny E has had an extremely busy but productive year, on exer- cise, operations and the sports pitch. Whilst some outstanding figures have been posted elsewhere, it welcomes a new crop of excellence and after post tour leave, E Battery looks as ready as ever to face whatever challenge lies ahead.
