1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery
while the exercise is coming to a close a new GIK tasking was announced and the main focus was going to be carried out in Germany that B Bty fitters step up in support of 19 RA to get the next round of AS90s ready for the onward journey to Ukraine. As another successful GiK tasking came to a close the decision is made to extend the next 2 rotations of OP CABRIT to 9 months instead of the standard 6 months and just like every change in events B Bty took it in their stride and accept the new challenge put before them. The remaining LAD Departments were not sit- ting idly by working hard on getting the regiments fleet back on track after all focus had been switch for project ALBA, while pro- viding support to B Bty during their pre-deployment training and deploying people short notice to Germany to assist in the repair of the AS90 for the Second GiK tasking.
Summer 2023
With E Bty in Estonia and B Bty in Germany focusing on pre- deployment training and the second GiK tasking the work force was running thin on the ground and Ex Scorpion Cyclone on the horizon everyone still in Larkhill went full tilt getting the regi- ments fleet ready to deploy. With a lot of late night and personnel being deployed the length and breadth of the country in search of spares the sea of red that was JAMES started with a trickle of green and yellow became a flood. Working hard and showing their professionalism and engineering prowess every member of the LAD worked tirelessly to ensure the regiment could get out the door on the exercise, showing once again that the praise and admiration that we get for doing what we do best is well deserved. As the saying goes all work and no play makes jack a

dull boy the LAD true to form took the well-deserved opportunity to have a day out in July to visit the New Forrest water park to allow everyone to wind down ready for the upcoming exercise. July also saw the LAD say goodbye to some of its many person- alities in the form of a formal dinner night with the newly posted in Cfn Martin taking on the role of Mr Vice the morning of the dinner night. ChTp Fitters have deployed out with the Gun Gp and member of the Stores Section deployed to A2 in support, keep- ing the Regiment going through one of the hottest Septembers in recent history.
