their own challenges, but are well worth the work when it all comes along. As our con dence grew towards the  nal few days, we started attempting more adventurous manoeuvres, making the most of the slalom routes, ski cross course and getting some air off the edge of the piste kickers.
Each evening the two groups would come together for a coffee before returning together to the accommodation where the hot tub was well utilised to relieve achy, sore legs. On the fourth night we took the opportunity to visit the area of Val Thorens and have a meal at a fondant restau- rant, which was a perfect opportunity to bond as a group and with our instructors. This was much appreciated by the more advanced of the two groups who had completed their introduction to ski touring that day. It was safe to say that this section of the trip was both rewarding and chal- lenging in equal measures.
Unfortunately, day  ve on the mountain saw OCdt Oakley fall while doing a low speed drill, designed to improve technique. What initially appeared to be a minor fall quickly became clear that it was more severe and damage was done. The group sprang into action, set up a warning

without them this
trip simply could not have taken place and their experience both on the slopes and of the wider Army was second to none. I would also like to thank OCdt Collicott for his hard work that made this fantastic exercise possible.
