long bus journey, we eventually arrived in the pic- turesque Jotunheimen national park. For our rst few days we stayed in a remote hiking lodge; this allowed us to get our bearings, appreciate the scenery and acclimatise to
shorten our route so not to burn ourselves out on the exercise. This allowed us to take a more leisurely pace down the valley. Day two and three we embarked on an expedition with day two ending at a glacial lake. Luckily throughout the day we had collected some rewood from the barren mountains, so had a re for the evening. After many steep descents on day three and res- cuing some lost Swedish travellers, we enjoyed a large dinner and a well-earned sleep.
Day four was a skills day, where the three MLT quali ed members of the group taught knot and rope skills. The nal day of walking took us in a new direction. We headed south east from the lodge along marked paths towards Lake Lang- vatnet. This was an easy walk compared to the terrain we had covered on days two and three. We descended to the lake where we had lunch before heading back on the same route. When we arrived back at the lodge we cleaned our kit and socialised with the lodge owners and some of the guests. Once again, we camped on the shore of the lake using the facilities in the lodge.
