Margaret Jones, who died in December 2016 had worked at the Academy for well over 50 years looking after the welfare
of the overseas cadets. Indeed, many, far from home, came to look upon her as a surrogate aunt. Her passing leaves a void at Sandhurst.

Perhaps the best epitaph comes from OCdt Azmi Hamid Bidin from Malaysia, a cadet in 1968, who referred to her as ‘an institution within an institution’.
