The Colonel Commandant then presented the following awards;
Champion Shot Regular – Awarded to The Ri es Regular Soldier who scores highest in the Army 100 (Queen’s Medal) Match.
The Regimental History Award – to encourage study of the history of The Ri es and its antecedent regiments.
For 2016 & 2017 to LCpl D Stanton, 4 RIFLES
Champion Shot Reserves – Awarded to The Ri es Reserve Soldier who scores highest in the Reserve Queen’s Medal Match.
For 2016 LCpl Filgate, 7 RIFLES.
The Colonel Commandant’s Award for Innovation –
The successful conduct of Military Operations.
For 2017 to LCpl T Meadows, 6 RIFLES
For 2016 awarded to Lt Ben Udy, 4 RIFLES
For 2017 to WO2 Gibbons, 3 RIFLES
His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales then presented
The Prince Philip Bugle and Colonel-in-Chief’s Commendations;
Colonel-in-Chief’s Commendations – awarded to any individual or, exceptionally, a team, section or group of eligible personnel, in recognition of an outstanding act or meritorious service.
The Prince Philip Bugle – awarded to the bugler who is the winner of the Annual Bugle Competition and is appointed as the Colonel-in- Chief’s Bugler for the coming year. 2016 to Cpl now Sjt Freeland, 2 RIFLES
For sel ess contribution to the management of the Regiment’s welfare estate compromising of 21 homes known as Green Jacket Close.
For 2017 to Cpl Merchant, 3 RIFLES (now serving
at the Army School of Ceremonial)
For exceptional work as the of cer recruiter for The Ri es.
Awarded to a Lance Corporal who has displayed the true characteristics
of a Thinking Ri eman.
