The Biennial Regimental Awards Dinner 2017
The 5th Biennial Regimental Awards Dinner, to present the Regimental awards for 2016 and 2017, was held in the Guildhall, City of London, on Wednesday the 8th of November. We were honoured by the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales KCVO, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester, Royal Colonel 7 RIFLES, and Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra, Royal Colonel 3 RIFLES. 370 guests attended in this 10th anniversary year of the formation of The Ri es.
Alderman and Sheriff Tim Hailes started the evening by welcoming their Royal Highnesses and guests to the City on behalf of The Lord Mayor. After dinner the Colonel Commandant, General
Sir Nicholas Carter KCB CBE DSO ADC Gen, gave an update on the Regiment today before introducing the speakers for the evening; Major Steven Pengilly, who reported on 4 RIFLES new role as a Specialised Infantry Battalion, and Major Chris Hellier, Second-in-Command 5 RIFLES, who described the Battalion’s recent deployment in support of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence in Estonia.
The presentation of Regimental Awards followed;
Mr and Mrs Doug Rigby presented The Rigby Award - awarded to the Corporal who scored the highest on the Corporal to Serjeant Board. (below)
