Civil Engagement
Mor Pl has taken part in a number of CE events in the Newcastle area, and in particular, an event focussing on the Black Asian Minority and Ethnic community. They also provided the mortar interest stand for the of cial opening of Anzio House by HRH The Duke of Kent.
The company has supported a number of VC Commemorations this year including Bradford, Heaviside, and Cooper as part of Op REFLECT, and Ormsby, Waller, and Wakenshaw as part of wider Local Authority-led events. During these events our Buglers, CSjt Coxon, LCpl Foster, and Rfn Elliot have shown an outstanding level of professionalism and commitment, and their skills have been much-ad- mired by a number of Local Authorities and other agencies. Our Buglers have also supported the Bugle Concentration and the Ri emen’s Gathering at Allianz Park. The company also supported the Yorkshire Surge in April 17 where 2Lt Rob Power (Y Platoon) led the company’s contingent during the Freedom of Dewsbury parade.
D Pl supported Uniformed Services Fun Day in Durham on 30 Apr 17 at the request of Durham
County Council. Members of the public reacted very favourably to the event where they were able to see a different side of the company in a family setting. The event also gave the platoon an opportunity to interact with local Emergency Services. 3 RIFLES very generously gave us the loan of the ‘Bouncing Bugle’ for the day.
2Lt James Simpson represented the company at Durham County Council for the raising of the ag to announce the start of Armed Forces Day. The company supported a total of ten events across its Area of Operation from Sunderland in the north to Doncaster in the south. The culmination of these events was the parade, led by the company, at Hartlepool on 1 Jul 17, where The Lord Lieutenant of County Durham, Mrs Sue Snowdon, and Deputy Commander 4th Infantry Brigade, Col Andy Had eld, took the salute.
In a thank you letter to the company, Cllr Allan Barclay, Armed Forces Champion for Hartlepool Borough Council, informed the company that The Lord Lieutenant of County Durham told the Ceremonial Mayor that she ‘had anticipated a good parade, but an outstanding one was delivered’.
