Reunions continue to be popular with over 30 run in 2017. These ranged from 10 year to 60 year events with the majority of members choos- ing to obtain a copy of their Sandhurst report. Most of these were written in the days when cadets did not see their reports and it was not unusual to have such gems as ‘If this officer cadet were a spaniel – I would not breed from him’. To save potential blushes, copied reports are handed over in sealed envelopes!
There has also been an increase in all female reunions from the days when women were grouped in platoons, a policy that seems very dated in today’s culture of integrated training.
However, perhaps the best illustration of how a reunion is a great leveller was the 13 Platoon

SMC 16 reunion. The group were waiting for the photo on the steps of Old College and roundly heckled one of their number who arrived late. No doubt The Chief of The General Staff had a good excuse!
The Trust Facebook page has been revamped this year giving a mixture of news from around the Academy, historical posts and our popular #famousfriday featuring former cadets who have gone on to make a mark in life outside the Army. We had 500 followers at the start of 2017 and almost 3000 by the end.
We recruited two new tour guides during the year, Lt Col (Ret’d) Ishbel Thomson and Maj (Ret’d) Roy Hunter MBE. Their presence has lowered the average age of the ‘youth club’ by
