REMEMBRANCE EVENTS
All thirty-three Squadrons from all over the Wing paraded in their local towns and villages across the Yorkshire region in November to mark Remembrance Sunday. Many units also helped support the Royal British Legion Poppy appeal in the weeks leading up to Remembrance Sunday and some of the events or stories follow.
2490 (SPEN VALLEY) SQUADRON WERE VERY BUSY OVER THE REMEMBRANCE WEEKEND!
By Flight Lieutenant Kellyann Martin
On Friday evening, they attended the Festival of Remembrance at Morley Town Hall, along with local friend units 168 (City of Leeds) and 96 (Dewsbury) Squadrons. An evening of Remembrance and entertainment was provided, and the cadets scattered poppies from the balcony onto the audience below.
Then, on the Saturday the cadets sold poppies at the local motorway service station Hartshead Moor, where they raised a record breaking amount for
the local Spenborough branch of the Royal British Legion.
Finally on the Sunday the cadets did very well in the Cleckheaton Remembrance Parade, and were very well turned out.
All the Squadron staff were very proud of their efforts, and how well they did. Three days' worth of events on the trot is no mean feat, and the cadets did a great job of making sure fallen military who made the ultimate sacrifice were remembered appropri- ately; with dignity and gratitude.
