2023 started with the farewell to the Regional Secretary, Anne Larson-Burnett, on retirement. The Rifles thanks Anne for all her hard work and support over the years in the role and wish her all the very best. The post was not left empty for long as in April the role of Regional Secretary South was filled by Jo Jackson- Wyatt. Jo joined the RIFLES family after serving 26 years in the AGC (SPS) and she brings with her a vast amount of experience.
In May the Regional Colonel, Brigadier Dan Reeve, was promoted to Major General and took up his post as GOC 6(UK) Division. Colonel Peter Baines took over as Regional Colonel.
May is the Mayor Making season throughout the region and the Regional Secretary and County/City Colonels were busy attending various ceremonies in our freedom towns and cities.
July saw the annual Officers’ Dinner at the Guildhall where many officers came together and enjoyed a fantastic evening which included a Sounding of Retreat by The Rifles Band and Bugles.
ACF and CCF camps ran over the summer holidays and were assisted by Riflemen from 5 and 7 RIFLES.
