Meanwhile, Southampton Water’s Twilight Series, (weekly Thursday evening racing) got underway mid May. All 5 races were held for the 14 entries. The late spring/early summer conditions were good.
• Class 1 series winner was Tim Octon’s Corby 35, NJOS
• Class 2 series winner was Jacob Mackenzie’s Evolution 22, Glass Onion.
Hot on the heels of the Twilight Series is the Summer Series which is, again, weekly Thursday evening racing in Southampton Water. As the racing is weekly, the 15 entries and RMT have to deal with high water and low water courses for the 5 race series in Southampton Water. 4 races were held.
The winds were good, if a little gusty, but racing each week was close. All to play for.
The series was won by Bob Gardner in his Hunter Formula One, Tearaway.
The Southampton RMT again hosted racing for Cowes Week (29th July - 5th August). A windy but rewarding few days. This is covered in another report.
The 2023 Beaulieu Series, a series of 6 races ran between May and September this year.
The Beaulieu RMT organized the series and will report on its detail.
However, I would like to thanks Guy and Zoë Darby for hosting this racing.
On a mid-June weekend, we held our second very enjoyable Annual Beaulieu Regatta with keelboat racing off the Beaulieu River, the subject of a separate report.
We are holding our Prize Giving at midday on the 25th November 2023 at the Gins Clubhouse. We look forward to seeing the winners and as many of the race participants as possible.
