Sailing Adventurous Training

Joint Services Adventure Sailing Training Centre (JSASTC) offer 5-day sailing AT, where you can gain your ‘Competent Crew’ or ‘Day Skipper.’ Last month, myself and AS1 Wells completed our competent crew course.
We were both pretty much complete beginners, so it was a steep learning curve. Over the five days, you will learn how to prepare the boat for the conditions that day, the theory and terminology of how to sail, and how to ‘put the boat to bed’ at the end of the day. We set off from Gosport and sailed to Cowes, Yarnmouth, Southampton and Ocean Village. You stay on the boat for the week, which is interesting experience - especially when everyone on board snores! JSASTC also provided a great selection of food sourced from local
butchers and green grocers that the crew take it in turn to cook each evening, normally followed by a trip to a pub!
It was a tough week, but everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and I would highly recommend booking a course. The instructors were great, and the course would cost £800 + on civvy street.
