                                Battalion, The Worcestershire Regiment on the 4th June 1959, and went on to serve
in Kingston, Jamaica in September 1959 and British Honduras in October the same year. He was posted to Norton Barracks
in February 1960 and then served in British Honduras, during ‘Hurricane Hattie’ in November 1961 before returning back to Norton Barracks in December. In May 1962 he was posted to Sandhurst ‘Demo’ before his discharge on 12 August that year.
In civilian life Brian qualified as a Master Bricklayer and also served with the Home Service Force at Kidderminster. Brian joined Bromsgrove Branch WFRA, becoming Branch Secretary. After the closure of
that Branch he became a member of the Worcester Branch.
BOWMER Kenneth Charles Frederick Maj TD of Ashbourne, Derbyshire
died on 7 September 2014. Ken was commissioned into the 5th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters Territorial Force on 10 June 1951 and to the TA Reserve
of Officers in 1960. He was Chairman of the Derby Branch for over 30 years and latterly was Branch President.
BOWRING Charles Derek of Derby died on 18 July 2015 aged 94. Derek was commissioned into The Sherwood Foresters Regiment on 1 October 1944 and served during the latter part of WWII in the Far East with the 1st Punjab Regiment. Charles
was the son of Major Edward Langley Bowring DSO who was commissioned
into The Worcestershire Regiment in 1901, serving with them during the Boer War and WW1, following which he served with The Sherwood Foresters before retiring in 1925.
BRENTNALL Colin (Lofty) Sgt of Derby died on 1 March 2015. Lofty enlisted
into the 1st Battalion, The Sherwood Foresters Regiment in 1947 and served 22 years in the Band until leaving in 1969.
BUNTING Colin LCpl of Allenton, Derby died on 14 March 2015 aged 59. Colin joined 1st Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment in April 1971 and served until December 1985.
BURNAGE Roy WO2 of Wythenshaw, Manchester died on 5 September 2014 aged 74. Roy enlisted into The Sherwood Foresters in 1962 and went on to serve with the 1st Battalion, The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment and the Long Service List before leaving
the Army in 1995. He was awarded the UN Cypus, GSM NI and LSGC.
COLLINS Harry Sgt of Leicester died on 20 March 2015 aged 91. Harry enlisted into 2nd/5th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters Regiment in June 1942 before transferring to The Northamptonshire Regiment
in November 1942. He subsequently transferred back to the 2nd/5th Battalion
in July 1943 joining them at Salerno in
September of that year where he served with D Coy at the Crossing of The Volturno before joining the Mortars Pl. He took ill and was hospitalised in Palestine where
on release from hospital was posted to the 2nd Battalion where he remained until being discharged to the Reserve in July 1947. After leaving the Army he was employed
as a Sheet Metal Worker until he retired.
COOPER Barry Cpl died on 6 December 2014 at Redditch after a long illness aged 72. He enlisted in the Worcestershire Regiment in 1963 and served with the 1st Battalion in Minden, Lydd, Gibraltar, Tobruk and Bulford until discharged in 1969.
CRUMP George William LCpl of Harlow died on 12 June 2015 aged 68. George enlisted into The Sherwood Foresters Regiment in 1967 and continued to serve
with 1 WFR , with
tours in NI and Cyprus,
until being discharged on 6 June 1990.
GARDNER Lawrence William Reginald
Pte of Malvern passed away at Worcester Royal Hospital on
the 19 March 2015. Lawrence was called up for National Service on 20 September 1951 and after
basic training at Lichfield joined the 1st Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment in Malaya. He was discharged on 17 September 1953. He later worked as a carpet fitter in Malvern and was an active member of the Worcester Branch.
GOODMAN S G
Maj of Lyonshall, Herefordshire died on 9 January 2015 aged 101. He enlisted in The Worcestershire Regiment in 1933 and served in Plymouth with 1 Worc R and China and India
with 2 Worc R rising to be RQMS by 1942. From 1944-1952 he served in RQMS appointments in Norway, UK and with 1 Para in Germany before being commissioned in 1953. He then served as QM of The Gold Coast Regiment, then from 1958 as MTO then QM of 1 Worc
R in Jamaica and Worcester. He spent his final 7 years’ service with 7 Worc R.
GOUGH William Arthur Pte from Tenbury Wells died on 11 June 2015 aged 91 years. He joined 1st Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment in 1943 and fought with the battalion in Normandy in the Caen battles including Hill 112, Mont Pincon and Berjou.
He was at Vernon for the Seine crossing and in the advance into Holland and Germany. He was a Dispatch Rider and following a motor cycle accident in early 1945 was discharged later that year.
HALLETT Lynda wife of Capt (Retd) Paul Hallett 3 WFR died on 27 Feb 2015 aged 64.
HARRISON Michael A of Long Eaton, Derbyshire died on 13 January 2015 aged 53. Mick enlisted into the 1st Battalion, The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment on 11 September 1978 and left on 31 January 1986. He served in the Corps of Drums.
HILL Barry LCpl
of Pedmore, Worcestershire died aged 78 on 22 August 2015. He joined
The Worcestershire Regiment in 1955
and qualified as a PTI, serving in Iserlohn and British Honduras. He
left briefly before re-enlisting and served as a PTI at Lichfield Depot before returning to 1 Worc R and serving in Gibraltar. His final posting was as a PTI at MCTC Colchester. He was discharged in 1971. He then worked as a painter and decorator and attended the Reunion at Worcester regularly.
JAFFREY Stephen A/CSgt of Worksop died on 23 October 2015 aged 66. Steve enlisted in 1976 with 3WFR and served with HQ and E Coy. He was discharged in 1988 after 12 years’ service.
JUKES Paul Pte of Peat Inn, Fife died on 16 September 2014 aged 58. Paul served with 1st Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment from 1973 to 1980 in Belize and Northern Ireland before being posted to the Y6 List after
an accident at a RUC Station in 1975.
JUKES Ronald James Pte of Birmingham died on 5 October 2015 aged 83 years. Ron was called up as a National Serviceman
in November 1950 and served with the RASC until May 1951 when he transferred into the 1st Battalion The Sherwood Foresters in Germany. He completed
his service on 30 November 1952. Ron was the Standard Bearer for Birmingham Branch and when that Branch went into suspended animation he continued to carry the Standard at the Annual Pilgrimage
to Crich and many other events.
McGEADY Daniel Pte Daniel died on 17 July 2015 aged 41. He enlisted into the 1st Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment
in 1993 and left the Army in 2003.
MARSH Richard James Pte of Dudley died on 8 November 2014 aged 80. He
