Private Dean Cauldley
Private Dean Cauldley died at the Marie Curie Cancer Centre in Belfast on Thursday 12 March 2015.
Private Cauldley was a casualty on HERRICK 10 with a life changing injury. He overcame this to return back to work in the 2 MERCIAN Quartermaster’s Department. However, he was diagnosed with cancer
in April 2014, which he had been receiving treatment for in Belfast.
His funeral was held at Ulster Temple, Belfast. Mourners from Dean’s family, friends, fellow officers and soldiers from The Mercian Regiment and ex-servicemen who served alongside Dean, filled the Belfast temple.
Tributes came from Dean’s beloved wife, Shelly and close friend Corporal (Retd)
Jason Passarelli, who both paid respect to his fierce loyalty, grit and determination even through the toughest of times, and his constant ability to ‘look on the bright side’, where others may fall apart.
A photo slideshow, compiled by Shelly was played to the John Legend song ‘All of me’. It showed Dean during service in Afghanistan, times with his son Tyler and best friend, Milo the German Shepherd.
Dean will leave a hole in the lives of all who knew him, but he will forever live on through the statue ‘Big Dean’, currently standing for all to see in the Mcindoe Centre at DMS Whittington; centralised training facility for tri-service medical staff.
