THE WING TAKES TO THE TRACK IN SUCCESSFUL ATHLETICS COMPETITION
On the 11th May over three hundred cadets from across the Wing descended upon John Charles Centre for Sports in Leeds for a highly anticipated inter-squadron athletics competition.
The day saw enthusiastic cadets compete in
a variety of track and field events, showcasing their athletic prowess and team spirit. The cadets displayed exceptional talent and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
A variety of different track events formed part of the competition, with cadets participating in a variety of races including sprints, middle-distance, and long-distance runs. In the field events, the cadets showed their prowess in disciplines such as the long jump, high jump, shot put, and javelin throw.
A highlight of the day was the fiercely contested 4x100m relay race, where teams battled closely for the coveted first-place position. The relay races fostered a spirit of teamwork and coordination, as

squadron teams worked together to compete against other units. The event also served as a platform for cadets to develop leadership and teamwork skills, as they cheered on their squadron colleagues and worked together to achieve a common goal.
Wing Commander Kat Barton commented on
the success of the competition: “It was fantastic
to see so many of our cadets participating in this event today. The enthusiasm and talent displayed
by all the competitors was impressive. Seeing such
a large turnout of cadets, all eager to compete and represent their squadrons, fills me with immense pride. Their dedication and spirit are a testament to the core values of the Wing. I would like to thank Pilot Officer Kirsty Gledhill for organising this brilliant event and the large team of staff who assisted her. It is their hard work that allowed this event to be such a big success.”
