Basic Life Support (BLS) training to the Royal Grenada Police Force, Special Service Unit, various schools, and community groups. This was appreciated by Commissioner of Police Don Makenzie and his team. We decided to focus on BLS due to the lack of training across the country, especially in the public sector, which is often the first on the scene of most emergencies. The aim is for those trained to pass on their knowledge to their colleagues and communities.
Given the role of the Royal Grenada Police Force and the Special Service Unit, the team conducted a three-day training package incorporating Battlefield Casualty Training for 14 personnel. These individuals will then be able to pass on their knowledge and skills to others in the force. This training was vital, as personnel from the Royal Grenada Police Force are often the first responders to most emergency scenes. Having the basic knowledge to sustain and preserve life until medical help arrives is paramount.
We left some training aids with the first aiders within the Royal Grenada Police Force so that more training can be conducted in our absence. We were pleased to hear that training has commenced with the newest set of police officers since our team left Grenada on 21 February 2024.
Our time in Grenada was worthwhile, and the feedback from those receiving the training was very positive, as it was the first time such training had been conducted, and they understood its importance. The team will continue to provide training in the future and to build a strong bond with the Royal Grenada Police Force.
We each hoped that our visit would show that,
Our time in Grenada was worthwhile, and the feedback from those receiving the training was very positive
regardless of where your life journey takes you, it is always possible to return home with the intention of giving back and making a positive impact. I would like to thank the QA Association for their generous support towards this venture.
