 WO2 S MCCALL
WO2 ‘Scotty’ Mccall joined the army in October 2001. On completion of phase 1 and 2 training he met up with the Regiment in Fallingbostel, Germany in November the following year.
WO2 Mccall deployed to Op TELIC 1 in 2003 – a historic deployment. He was a gunner on C/S 30 that famously engaged and destroyed the first enemy tank of the war. This was not the last time WO2 McCall would be deployed to Iraq, several years later he would return as a LCpl on Op TELIC 7, and 12 respectively. Scotty then promoted to Cpl and completed his Challenger 2 commanders course.
As if being in one historic tour wasn’t enough, WO2 Mccall deployed on Op HERRICK 14 with D Sqn the WARTHOG group, as the BARMA team commander, through the summer of 2011. On his return he would promote and then take charge of the Commanding Offers troop (Command troop)
He became a troop Sgt within A Sqn and deployed once again to Afghanistan working with the Australian army that protected mentors employed as ISAF.

On promotion to SSgt, ‘Scotty’ was once again on tour. This tour clearly was the most demanding of them all... OP TOSCA, as the hotel manager. The gruelling hours and selfless commitment that he made to ensure the those below him never wanted, earned him commendation.
With WO2 rank slide on his chest he was selected as B Sqn SSM then deployed to Op CABRIT as A Sqn SSM. His last job before he left the forces was RQMS where once again his sacrifice earned him another commendation.
It was not all about work for ‘Scotty’, he loved to play football and represented the Regimental football team for more than 20 years earning the nick name; ‘long ball McCall’. Scott was presented his sports colours for his dedication to the team.
We wish Scott and his beautiful family Lynn and Freddie all the best for the future.
country team and captained the team during an extremely successful period. After a long and successful military career, he now moves onto pastures new as a civilian. On behalf of everyone at SCOTS DG we extend our best wishes to Stevie, he will be greatly missed from all, but are confident that his persistent pursuit of excellence and personal discipline will serve him well in whatever oppor- tunities lie ahead for him and his family.
