26 EAGLE AND CARBINE
COMMAND TROOP
LCpl L Gray
Command Tp formed up dispersed with some in Mali, most back in Leuchars under SSgt Christie and the rest waiting to move in from other Sqns on the re-ORBAT. At this point WO2 Davy Mullan handed over to SSgt “Ginge” Burns who took on both RSWO and BSM, alongside Capt Peppiatt remaining in the seat as RSO.
OP GOLDEN ORB
Command Troop’s first commitment was to provide men for the King’s Coronation (Op GOLDEN ORB) with drill practice starting in camp, before heading to Sandhurst under the watchful eye of the Guards’ drill instructors for two weeks prior to the big day.SSgt Christie, LCpl Gray, LCpl McGregor, LCpl Bell, LCpl Ferguson, Tpr Nowicki- Price all represented the Troop. Coronation rehearsals were long days marching around the square and the mock route we would be marching through London. We had to learn the new “12-to-6s” routine so we could all fit through the palace gates which took several attempts to master but looked great on the day. We were lucky enough to have sunshine for majority of the rehearsals. A few nights
before the big day, London was shut down for the night and we conducted our final rehearsal marching through the streets and into the Palace Gardens as our final tick in the box. All went to plan, and we were given the following day off to rest and prepare our kit for our final inspection the following day. The big upon us, we gathered at 0400, the SCOTS DG marching contingent gathering for a toast to the King and the Regiment.
EX ARCCADE LEDGER
This was the first time the “new” Command Troop had worked together and, for a lot of us, experienced the absolute treasure-trove of fun that BGHQ is to set up, get running and cam up...to then take it back down and move it again. BGHQ proceeded to smash the mCPX with command troop on standby ready to help where required.
This was also the first time SSgt Barrett, SSgt Stodart and Sgt Williams had worked as part of BGHQ team. The local NAAFI profited generously on sales of Monster and Red Bull as the stresses of BGHQ life kicked in. Sgt Williams
