the ‘touch’ principle, C Div faced off stiff competition on the Rugby field to put their Division firmly on the scoreboard. Clearly on a roll, their success continued on the more civilised frontlines of the Cricket pitch before nosediving spectacularly in Volleyball. Faced with crosswinds capable of grounding a Typhoon pilot, they endured consecutive losses in a pitiful display of ‘Top Gun-esque’ mimicry which eventually saw B Div emerge triumphant. In comparable imitations of movie glory, A Div courageously braved hurtling softballs to be crowned the stars of ACSC 21 Dodgeball.
With the traditional events out of the way, the crowds gathered at the Pavilion for the much revered Tug- of-War. Mixed teams from the three Divisions each stepped up to the rope in their attempt to pull their Division to glory. With slippery conditions levelling the playing field each team performed admirably but the composure of C Div under the stewardship of Major Gus Precious RM proved too much for their peers, sealing victory in the final outdoor event. A consistent performance throughout by A Div saw them holding only a marginal tournament lead and thus all was still too play for as staff and students alike packed the gallery of the College Forum to witness the Olympiad
 ON 11 OCTOBER 2017, with the pleasantries and cordiality of the Introduction Phase behind them, it was time for staff and students
to park inter-service rivalries and embrace Divisional spirit, coming together for
their first competitive engagement of ACSC 21.
Duelling as the three ACSC Divisions through
the medium of sport the annual Olympiad
fosters competitive spirit and teamwork across nine traditional
and contemporary
sporting events. Clearly being an ACSC led activity, there was also no shortage of fun and frolics injected for good measure!
Equipped with a vigour and zeal with which only blooded veterans of the International Security Studies phase can empathise, even the blustery autumnal conditions failed to hamper the enthusiasm of sporting excellence which took to the Pavilion Fields that afternoon to commence battle. A
Div took an early lead with their domination of 5-a-side Football securing them the first tournament points of the day. B Div were quick to respond however with Hockey team captain Lieutenant Commander Sean Trevethan leading his Division
to convincing victory on the astroturf. Despite limited collective understanding of
