At the end of a turbulent 2022 the annual stalking trip went ahead as planned. It was a tremendous success with thirteen soldiers and two officers being able to take part in the annual highland hind cull. By the end of the week South Chesthill had taken out a significant number of the animals they wished to cull for the year, having spent the week stalking on the beautiful North Chesthill, Blackmount and Easter Logie estates which all provided some incredible days stalking, extraor- dinary scenery and plenty of deer to go after.
As we arrived at the wonderful South Chesthill lodge on Sunday evening: it was very apparent to all that the weather was unusually mild for the time of year and with a quick scan through the binoculars it was abundantly clear that the deer were located much higher on the hill than normal.
