2 Highlanders Battalion Army Cadet Force
On 16 July 2022 some 150 Cadets accompanied by 50 Adult Volunteers from 2nd Battalion The Highlanders ACF deployed to Queen Elizabeth Barracks, Strensall for their 2 week Annual Camp, among them a number of cadets from the SCOTS DG detachment.
The hot weather this year had some impact on training but, over the 2 weeks, cadets took part in the usual activities as per the training syllabus of skill at arms, target shooting and of course every cadet’s favourite - fieldcraft. This year cadets also took part in expedition training under the guidance of our Expedition Officer, Lt Georgia Pinson, assisted by some CFAVs.
Cadets spent an enjoyable day out at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre, taking part in various adventurous

training activities including a zip wire, climbing wall, an obstacle course and command tasks with some nature and environmental information from the staff.
After the fun of camp, cadets took a well-deserved break over summer. The SCOTS DG element are now back at work at a nearby detachment building and are looking forward to returning to their home in Mastrick Aberdeen in a brand new building which is now under construction.
On Remembrance Sunday SCOTS DG cadets were present with their cadet colleagues from Aberdeen City to pay their respects and give thanks to those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the freedoms we all take for granted today.
