Mr L W Wells MBE
Died: 13 Sep 21 Served: 1962-90
Lawrence William Wells known as “Fargo” in the Regiment. Died at the BUSAMED Private Hospital in Somerset West, South Africa. He enlisted on 19th October 1960 in Sheffield. He was at
the All Arms Junior Leaders at Tonfanau, North Wales before joining the Regiment in Paderborn in May 1962. He was a Helicopter Pilot serving with 3 Regt AAC for a number of years until his discharge on 21st June 1992. Proudly serving in the 13/18H for 31 years.247 days at the time of discharge.
Mr A L Calladine
Died: 9 Oct 21 Served: 1959-65
Allen Calladine joined the Regiment in 1959 and quickly became a member of the Regimental Boxing team. A member of the Regimental Team that fought in the 17 Gurkha Div OCLF Inter Unit Team Championships in 1960 whilst serving in Malaya where he spent time in Ipoh. The Regimental Journal of 1960 men- tions fighting at middleweight Trooper Calladine (of C Squadron) took on the hot favourite of the 1st Foresters, Sergeant Espinosa. A ding-dong battle ensued and to our great joy Trooper Calladine got the verdict. In 1961 he found himself and the Regiment in Fallingbostel in Germany as part of the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR). He moved from Fallingbostel to Paderborn where they Regiment were in 1964 until his discharge in 1965.
Capt J P Paige
Died: 19 Oct 21 Served: 1948-60
Joined the Regiment in Malaya where he spent much of his service. Started as a National Serviceman before continuing his military career. in 1950 he joined C Squadron initially as 2nd Troop Leader. During his service in Malaya, he spent time in Kluang, Seremban, Quorn also Singapore and a short time in Aden. in 1955 he became the Intelligence Officer with HQ12 Infantry Brigade before moving in 1957 to the School of Tank Technology in Bovington, Dorset. On leaving the Army he worked in a Ugandan National Game Park for a period where he had a passion for nature. He also loved Art Culture which he involved himself in also after his military service.
He was interested in nature and birds in particular from an early age and kept metic- ulous sketches and notes from his time serv- ing in Malaya, Oman, Aden and Germany. On leaving the army he trained as an artist studying Graphic Design at Birmingham College of Art. His experience and acute observation developed during those years abroad influenced much of his later work.
N Pemberton Esq
Died: 26 Oct 21 Served: 1951-53
We were informed by the wife of Nigel of this sad news and that he had died whilst living in Jamaica. He served from January 1951 until January 1953, during his National Service he was a Regimental officer
who served in Malaya from Oct 1951 until
  athletic. On leaving school he worked in the docks in Ipswich as an apprentice chippy. He was called up to complete his National Service aged 21 and went to Buty St Edmunds to complete his basic training and then to Barnard Castle to complete his trade training and joined the Regiment in Aldershot. He went to Libya in 1948 on a troop ship from Liverpool and saw service in Barce and Benghazi. In 1949 he was demobbed. He then went back to working in the docks at Ipswich for 49 tears until he was made redundant. He volunteered as a kit man for Suffolk County Boys Football Team for 28 years and was a very good snooker player and played the drums in a local dance band. He married Jean in 1955 and they had 2 daughters, he will be missed by family and friends.

After arriving at the Regiment, Reginald wasaTprinCSqn where he saw service with 13/18H in Malaya. After a period in Singapore the Sqn then moved on to Ipoh. in 1961 the Regiment returned to Fallingbostel in
 job, always singing, and also entertaining the guys whilst playing his beloved guitar. He served with the Regiment through two tours Northern Ireland as well as his time in Germany. Lived in Married quarters at Warminster. He leaves 4 x children, Darren Jason Michelle, Jamie, 7 x grandchildren. Entertaining and music were his life, and last but not least he adored his partner Christine who took great care of him.

   a member of A Squadron he served in Singapore from September 1959 until February 1960. He was awarded the Pingat Jasa Malaysia medal for his service and role in the Peacekeeping groups amongst the communion countries for distin- guished chivalry, gallantry, sacrifice or loy- alty in upholding Peninsular of Malaysia or Malaysia Sovereignty during the period of emergency and confrontation. He dis- charged in February 1960.
Joined the Regiment in Piddlehinton, Dorset in May 1958 before being deployed to Malaya in July 1958 where he stayed until September 1959 whilst with the 13th/18th Royal Hussars (QMO). As
