Nov 1952. During this time the Squadron were carrying out food escort patrols in the local areas to ensure safe passage through their area of operations. An officer in A Squadron during his time during which time they were based in Johore Bahru. He was awarded the General Service Medal with clasp for Malaya as he departed.
Mr G J Pashley
Died: 28 Oct 21 Served 1977-88
Gary joined 13/18H in 1977. In 1978 as a member of A Squadron he was a part of 1st Troop ini- tially before a period with 5th Troop this whilst serving in Cyprus and then returning to UK and Wimbish in particu-
lar. After approx 3 years in 5th Troop he had a period with the Squadrons Surveillance Troop, followed by time with SHQ Troop at which time the Regiment were serving in Harewood Barracks in Herford, Germany. Towards the end of his military service, he had a couple of years in the Regimental Medical Centre by now as a Lance Corporal. This appeared to pre- pare him for leaving the service as on departing the military at discharge Gary became a paramedic with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service. He discharged in April 1988.
Maj P L Waddy
Died: 14 Nov 21 Served: 1947-68
Lieutenant Peter Waddy joined the 13/18H in Aldershot then from 1948-50 he was stationed in Cyrenaica, Egypt during which time he held the appointment of Regimental Signals Officer in Regimental Headquarters. 1950-52 saw him in Malaya with B Squadron initially, then a period as an Instructor, Mons OCS in Aldershot fol- lowed, during a period at ERE he was on attachment to HQ 6th Armoured Div in BAOR in 1952 during which time he pro- moted to Captain. Now in B Squadron he was a member of the successful Pistol Team during the Regimental Rifle Meeting held on Wolfenbuttel Ranges in April 1954. During 1957 he was again at ERE this time with the Royal Military College of Science in Shrivenham. 1959-60 saw him return to Malaya, where he was Second- in-Command of B Squadron during this period. In 1961 he was posted as MEO 2 at the Chemical Defence Establishment at Porton Down in Wilts. 1963 he held the appointment of TSO 2 at HQ RAC in Bovington. In 1965 as a Major he became the Officer Commanding HQ Squadron in Paderborn, Germany. His follow on appointment was that of Regimental Training Officer, this before he returned to UK once more as TSO 2 at HQ Base
Organisation, RAOC in Didcot. His ser- vice ended in September 1968.
Mr K Beaumont
Died: 24 Nov 21 Served: 1962-85
Ken Beaumont known as Bluey started his service with 13/18H as a member of SHQ Troop of A Squadron in Fallingbostel, Germany as a part of the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR), after a short time in Fallingbostel the Regiment moved to Paderborn, whilst still in Germany and he moved to 4th Troop B Squadron for a short period in 1965 before returning to A Squadron in Perham Down. by 1971 Ken was a Corporal and part of Range Troop in Lulworth as the Regiment played its part as the RAC Training Regiment in the UK, based at Bovington and Lulworth. Moving for a short period to MT Troop of the Lulworth Squadron before the Regiment returned to BAOR and in particular to Hohne near the Soltau Training area, by 1976 Ken was now a Sergeant and in charge of A Sqn Admin Troop in Omagh. Moving from Omagh back to the UK the Regiment were posted to Saffron Waldon where he was Troop Sergeant 5th Troop B Squadron for a period, then a return to Germany and Harewood Barracks before he discharged in 1985.
to D Squadron as a member of their Support Troop in 1986 whilst they were employed as part of the AMF(L) who saw periods away in Norway, Turkey and Denmark. D Squadron were at this time home based in Tidworth. Promoted to Staff Sergeant in January 1989 he remained in Support Troop. Moved to HQ Squadron in April 1989 and then promoted to WO2 when he ran the Regimental Training Wing, where he remained until leaving the Army in 1992. He was a man who pos- sessed exceptional leadership qualities and who earned respect through example and determination. He successfully led men in Northern Ireland, Turkey and in the Arctic Circle in Norway during mid-winter dur- ing his career. David had a great sense of humour, which he never lost, even during the harshest of conditions.
Mr J F Hoggard
Died: 23 Dec 21 Served: 1966-90
John started his military career as a Junior Leader of the Royal Armoured Corps. After two years he then joined the 13th/18th Royal Hussars in January 1968. During his Regimental career he served with HQ, A, B and D Sqns. He also served a period with the Army Careers Information Office in Hull in 1979 and also at the Princess Marina College at Arborfield during 1985. His discharge took place in February 1990 as a Staff Sergeant.
Mr T D Aspinall
Died: 29 Dec 21 Served: 1964-77
Thomas enlisted in January 1964 join- ing the Regiment in Paderborn, Germany as part of the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR). During his service he served with C Squadron (initially in 1st Troop and then RHQ Troop) and A Squadron in Germany, UK, Singapore, Malaya and Northern Ireland. Awarded the General Service Medal Northern Ireland he departed the Army in January 1977 leaving in the rank of Sergeant.

Mrs G Hunt
Died: 9 Jul 21
We were informed of the sad news by her daughter Frances that her mother Gill Hunt widow of the late Lt Col E E Hunt MBE had passed away.
Mr D Sherratt
Died: 15 Dec 21 Served: 1973-92
as a member of 3rd Troop, C Squadron. In 1975 he moved to HQ Squadron and deployed to Northern Ireland (NI) as a member of the Reserve Troop located at Cookstown, County Tyrone as part of Operation BANNER. In 1976 after the NI tour he returned to 3rd Troop, C Squadron whilst still in Hohne, now as a Lance Corporal. Omagh NI was next as a Corporal in 1978. During this time the Squadron rotated through a nine week cycle of three weeks on Brigade Reserve, three weeks in Fermanagh and the remainder guarding Omagh. On departing NI the Squadron moved to Carver Barracks, Saffron Walden in the UK. During August 1980 he moved to Command Troop, HQ Squadron. And in June 1982 he spent a period on posting to the RAC Training Regiment as a Local Sergeant, re-joining the Regiment in Harewood Barracks, Herford, Germany he joined A Squadron as initially Troop Sergeant 2nd Troop and then Support Troop whilst on CVR(T). He then moved
