The Girl Guiding spirit has not left Thrapston during lockdown
The 1st Thrapston Brownies have been busy completing many badges, so far 71 badges to be awarded. We’ve been enjoying virtual campfires, a countywide virtual camp, attended a virtual adventures at home festival, joined in with the Midlands regional challenge ‘Celebrate at Home’ which included a virtual promise renewal along with over a thousand other members from the region, as well as continuing our meetings on a Thursday evening via zoom. Three of the Brownies have even made their promise virtually!
Lockdown has really made the Brownies show how important the Brownie Guide law is to them: A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day. They have been busy sending letters and cards, baking and delivering

Following an online ‘zoom’ committee meeting in June, and in view of the very uncertain situation regarding rehearsing and performing, it was regretfully decided to postpone plans for our next annual staged production till February 2022 when Franz Lehar’s ‘The Merry Widow’ will be presented.
However, once the situation gradually changes and perhaps ‘distanced singing’ might at least be permitted, we hope to be able to rehearse a concert performance of

treats to neighbours, thanking the NHS and key workers, painting positive pebbles and becoming Super Brownies with the mission “to make the local area a better place to live”.
Brownies is about trying new things that teach girls aged 7 to 10 about themselves, their community and their world. Introducing girls to a world of new opportunities, challenges, fun and a space to try new things as they explore the topics that sit within our six programme themes - Know Myself, Express Myself, Be Well, Have Adventures, Take Action and Skills For My Future.
