Changes are coming thick and fast as more industries open up and a greater
level of social freedom arises. This may
be a temporary summer respite before a challenging winter, but for now I pray that you are able to thank God for the joys of life and delight in the sunshine he provides.
Changes to church life are also coming (July 2020) and we are currently studying
the Church of England’s interpretation
of the government’s most recent set of announcements. I cannot tell you exactly what will be permitted and nor have I worked out what will be physically possible. Re-opening is going to be a lot more difficult, slow, messy and confusing than closing.
We are hoping to resume church services in some of the benefice church buildings from August 16th. What form these services will have and what time they take place is yet to be finalised, so please check for details on our website www.tdichurches.co.uk nearer the time.
clean the church building and establish safety measures in line with the current requirements. We look forward to welcoming all those who are ready to gather in person for worship again, albeit in a different way.
But even if some of the congregation
can begin to gather, we will be socially distanced, covered in hand-gel, not allowed to sing and required to comply with many other conditions. So for the coming months I am expecting to continue with online Sunday services perhaps supplemented by some small physical gatherings. Up to date details will be made available on our website www. tdichurches.co.uk and for those not able to attend or not yet comfortable about meeting, online services will continue to be published too. These summer months are going to be both a liberating and confusing time.
That ‘Day,’ of course, is not the day when the government announces the Covid alert level to be at 1, but the day when we will come before the judge of all the earth, the day we will meet Jesus face to face. So
as we draw a little nearer to one another, let’s be drawing much nearer to Jesus in repentance and faith. Because those who do, will receive something better than simply cleansing from a virus, they will have hearts cleansed from a guilty conscience and bodies washed pure enough for an eternity with God.
May the Lord be with you,
Nolan
