marmalade making! I find it really therapeutic making my products.
Plans to expand further? I plan to expand
the range of flavours on offer (I love trying
out new flavour combinations!). Once I have established my brand in the local area I hope to be able to supply local farm shops and delis. I currently sell via my website (local collection or nationwide shipping) and at artisan markets and food festivals.
Any colleagues or do you go it alone? Just me – from sowing the seeds to labelling the jars!
Describe your business in five words...
Luxury, artisan, handmade, quality, delicious!
What makes The Jam Queen different?
Unlike many jam makers, I grow a lot of the produce I use in my garden or am lucky enough to be offered fruit and veg from friends’ gardens. This means my preserves are made using super- fresh, high quality ingredients. Some of my
jams are made within minutes of the fruit being picked – you can’t get much fresher than that!
Proudest moment? Winning two gold awards and a silver award for my marmalades at the 2024 World Marmalade Awards earlier this year. This was my first time entering the artisan awards and I didn’t expect to win anything.
Any future ambitions? To enter (and win!) more food awards.
What brings you joy? Hearing feedback from happy customers.
Something people don’t know about you? I sometimes carry a pot of ‘emergency jam’ in my bag for those times when the jam provided with a cream tea is not up to scratch.
Scones: jam first or cream? Jam first! But if it’s a very thick clotted cream and/or runny jam, then I have been known to spread the cream on first and then dollop the jam on top! thejamqueen.square.site
