UPDATE
Over the past six months, members of the Battalion have continued to
excel in both sports and adventurous training, demonstrating remarkable
dedication and achievement.
Sgt Ben Mills has been a standout athlete, representing the Royal Signals in
Ice Hockey and being selected for the Help for Heroes All-Star team at a recent
tournament in Sheffield. The team reached the final, raising over £21,000 for
charity. Sgt Mills’ commitment to Corps sports earned him Corps colours in both
Ice Hockey and Swimming, a rare and impressive achievement.
CSjt Lloyd Kirlew has made a name for himself in karting, being chosen from
30 drivers to race for Team Army. He competed in all six rounds of the UK Armed
Forces Championships, securing several podium finishes. SSgt Jade Mullen has
also excelled in Rugby, representing the UKAF women’s team, which reached the
semifinals at the Dubai International Rugby 7’s tournament.
Other notable achievements include LCpl Ujjwal Rai, who represented the
Army Legal Corps at football, and Cpl Chandan Gurung and WO2 Barnett, who
completed ultra-marathons raising thousands of pounds for charity.
In Adventurous Training, LCpl Thomson LAD attended the Ocean Diver’s
course at Stoney Cove, Leicestershire. Within a week, he advanced from pool
basics to diving confidently at depths of 20 meters. Additionally, our Nordic Ski
team, led by Sjt O’Keeffe, competed in Ex Nordic Sword in Sweden.
These achievements reflect the Battalion’s continued commitment to
excellence, both in sport and adventurous training.
