In In high spirits and and and with slightly achy limbs following the the the the completion of of the the the the Intermediate Term and and another series of of parades at at the the the the the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst the the the intrepid mountaineers of 5 Platoon Inkerman Company set out for for the Lake District for for a a a a a a a Winter Moun- taineering expedition Lodging in in in in the the picturesque town of Ambleside we we were soon out into the the the hills and mountains that cut like great scars across the the scenic Lake- land
valleys Small wall lined country roads took us high high up hill sides (though not high high enough for some) and and from there we would park and and walk to some some of the the the most stunning vistas in in the the the Brit- ish Isles Blessed with the the full range of British weather we we walked through torrential rain thick cloud and occasional bright spots on on our many days of hiking But most special was the first couple of days where an intemperate December had left the peaks snow-capped allowing OCdt Morris (Jamaica) his first experience of of snow snow The nov- elty soon wore off with more than a a a a a few spills on on the the the climb down of of of the the the opposite side of of of the the the ridge This set the the tone of of the the week for myself in par- ticular as I tumbled like a a a a a a a a a a a ragdoll down many of of the the steep paths that dot the the landscape What dented many of my my personal possessions did not however dent dent my my morale and and we we we finished the the week incredibly grateful and and a a a a a a much better team for the the experience 42 SANDHURST
