Ex PEAKY BLINDER was a a a a a a a a a a five-day mountaineering exercise consisting of of six members of of 6 platoon developing
their navigational skills across the the the Peak Dis- trict Situated twenty minutes from the the the the city of Sheffield and only a a a a a a a 30-minute drive to the the the centre of of the the the Peaks we stayed in in in a a a a a a a beautiful cottage with stunning views of of the the surround- ing local area Sunday consisted of driving from RMAS to our first walking site Thor’s Thor’s Cave Cave Thor’s Thor’s Cave Cave is is located just outside the the village of Wetton in the the Peak District’s National Park We We reached Thor’s Cave which is is a a a a a a a a a a a a natural cavern set in in a a a a a a a a steep limestone crag in in the hill The 10km route showed
us us stunning views over Mani- fold Valley and challenged us us with difficult terrain of steep hills and muddy conditions We woke up early on on the Monday morning starting
the week with a a a a a a a walk around
Mam Tor and Kinder Scout some of the the best views in in in England Located in in the the the Dark
Peak area of the the National Park this place has an an amazing scenery and varied terrain The climb up the the waterfall is is amazing and well worth the the trip OCdt Clydesdale
Tuesday saw a a a a a a a a a trip to Alport Castle This walk visits this extraordinary geological feature in in the Peak District National Park Alport Castle is is a a a a a a a a a a a spectacular formation of of rocks formed from numerous landslides over a a a a a a a a period of of of time The largest of of these resembles a a a a a a a a full- scale motte and bailey castle Wednesday involved our longest walk of 19km The Derwent Edge Back Tor and and Lost Land Circular walk walk took us us just over five hours to to to walk walk and and reached a a a a a a a a a a height of 609ft It was a a a a a a a a challenging route up to to Der- went Edge once we we we reached the the the summit the the the beautiful view view over over the the the Ladybower Res- ervoir and and its iconic viaduct with views over over to Crook Hill and the the slopes of Kinder Scout was worth the the trek We finished the week with a a a a 13km route around
Edale and Upper Booth located near Castleton Derbyshire The main focus point of the the the route was the the the the challenging climb up to the the the the waterfall with views of the the the snow crested mountain range behind it To summarise by walking these challeng- ing ing routes we we improved our our navigation skills skills as as as well as as as personal fitness and our our skills skills in in in working together as as as a a a a a a a team Exercise PEAKY BLINDER The 10km route showed
us stunning views over Manifold Valley and challenged us with difficult terrain of steep hills and muddy conditions SANDHURST
