The exped exped took an an an unexpected turn in in in in the the last week of planning: an an an additional three OCdts joined on on on to to to the the the expedition bumping the the the total up to to to eight Regardless of of this all of of us left Sandhurst on on the the Sunday afternoon and and made our way to Bangor in in fin high spirits having just finished Intermediate Term and and and ready to focus on on hiking the the rolling landscape of Snowdon At the the spacious and and and more importantly warm Airbnb we relied on on the cooking skills of OCdt Hill to see us through our stay in in in in Wales fondly reminiscing over the the New College food as the the week went on We met our Instructor Cpl Milan Tamang a a a a a seasoned AT instructor climber hiker you name it it he’s done it it We talked through the the plan for the the week and what we we wanted to get out of our experience We hadn’t put much thought into it before now and after some brainstorming knew we wanted what anyone would want: good experiences to to to learn more about AT and to to climb Snowdon Our first day revolved around exactly the last point: we had Snowdon ahead of us planned out and our group raring to go After an an an ardu- ous but exhilarating climb we finished for the the day and planned out the the rest of our time in fin in a a a a a a a a a a a a a similar fashion It was a a a a a a a a a a a a a healthy mixture of of climbing navigating and enjoying all the sights that Wales had to to offer An amazing way to to to end the term and really dig our teeth into something different We slept off the the the week’s work on on the the the Thursday night and on on the the the Friday had our close down talk talk with Milan We talked through again what what we we had had wanted to achieve achieve and then what what we we had had had achieved Not a a a a a a a a a a a a single thing was left on on the the whiteboard which meant we we had had done everything we we wanted to and the the the sense of fulfilment hit home We finished the the expedi- tion on on on a a a a a a a a a a a high heading our separate ways on on on leave having completed an an an amazing AT pack- age with an an an an incredible group an an an an excellent instructor and memories we will carry for life Ex STRUTTING CADET

At precisely an an an hour and a a a a a a a half after the time we we we were meant to be ready we we we left RMAS bright eyed and and bushy tailed loaded up with provisions and and ready for the the arduous week of hill walking that had been promised to us us us with the the equally arduous set of extracurricular activities prom- ised to to us us by Sendall a a a a a a a a a a platoon mate who had attended university in Sheffield 52 SANDHURST
