Exercise Proton Serpent (AMS Ski Champs)

I could feel the sadness from my legs when I said “it’s time for a break lads, you’re each getting your own ski!”
It was time to learn how to Nordic and alpine ski! Having shredded many a season on a snowboard I thought I would pick the opposing side. Hey, understanding leads to enlightenment of the dark
side right? I fully knew
this was going to be
tough.
The outlook
for the two weeks
was to try and get us Nordic and alpine ski ready; the mornings dedicated to alpine while the afternoons to Nordic. 5 days in we were thrown straight into racing! Roughly

had us all set off in a mass brawl on a baby green slope for “selection”. A method which let all the ski instructors decide what ability we were ranked at; thus enabling them to organise the ski groups. The whole time I just got flash backs of my school days and football selection.
In the space of no time, I was feeling confident on red runs and Maj Bartlett was in hot pursuit covering the most distance I have ever seen across a mountain range. LCpl Ward was the most improved, having
