Kayaks, Raft Building etc. Interesting to meet many of the centres instructors whom were ex-forces. Following on from that was the 3 day Expedition Training where both cadets and non-qualified CFAVs were able to participate in the required training and assessments in order to pass relevant Star level or Expe- dition Supervisor status. This culminated with a surprise Fish and Chip shop slap up meal on the last evening before handing back kit and returning to home locations.
Outside of our ‘Hybrid Summer camp’ we have also managed to get a minibus of cadets to represent us in County Sports events and even pushing on to some National events due to their skills. In addition to this, 5 of the Squad- ron’s cadets attended Kinmel Camp in North Wales to achieve their 4-Star CIS Signaller Course and subsequently are
now sporting the Cross Flags badge on their uniform. Well done to all!
Exercise Muzzle Flash at the Infantry Battle School in Brecon has allowed us to hone the cadets skills with both Basic and 1-Star Shooting as well as some much needed residential training on Drill & Turnout and Military Knowledge. This confirms the cadets training at Detach- ment level and a good fistful of 1-Star badges and Shooting badges were presented.
Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and Remembrance Parades 2021 had E Squadron covering Llanelli, Trimsaran, Burry Port, Tenby, Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Llanion Welsh War Cemetery, Freshwater West, Haver- fordwest, Broad Haven, Milford Haven, Neyland and Narberth to name a few and
was attended by cadets and CFAVs that proudly paid their respects and remem- bered the fallen. Lest we forget.....
CFAVs and cadets from across the Squadron would like to take this oppor- tunity to thank the Regiment for their brilliant assistance and support during these difficult times and we look forward to catching up with you all again in 2022!
On a final note, 2021 has seen a plethora of new recruits through the doors of some Detachments, but we are still able to take more. So if you know anyone who could benefit from the opportunities we (and other Cadet Force units) offer, then get them to visit www. armycadets.com. Finally, we are always on the lookout for Adult Volunteers in west Wales, so if you to feel you have something to offer our ‘Future Troopers’ then contact me direct.
