CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our GP practices, local pharmacies and NHS staff for their ongoing commitment to deliver the COVID-19 vaccines and boosters to
our residents, with thanks also to the care sector staff looking after our family members and loved ones in these challenging times.
Our High Street traders and businesses provided
an amazing service over the Christmas period and I hope that you will continue to support them and shop locally.
The Treasure Island pantomime performed at the Plaza by the Laugh Out Loud Theatre Company was enjoyed by a full house of adults and children. Thank you to Jollys Toys for the Find the Treasure game and for donating a prize for the winner. Thanks also go to the Councillors who dressed to impress and to the Youth Forum for their help on the day.
The Mayor of Northampton, Rufia Ashraf, invited us to her Charity Gala held in Northampton Museum & Art Gallery. We were entertained by a local group of young
people dancing and singing before dinner, followed by
a presentation from NDAS, Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service. A charity auction of fabulous prizes donated by local companies raised substantial needed funds. A young singer songwriter Afreine sang her debut single Clare St., a track dedicated to fellow survivors of domestic abuse. It is an emotional track which has been played on BBC Radio Northampton and is out now on regular streaming platforms.
Daventry Mayor Karen Tweedale hosted an Abba tribute night
for her charity Muscular Dystrophy at Daventry Football Club. A great night of entertainment, fancy dress and the obligatory ABBA dance moves.
With my Irish family connections, I am hosting a St Patricks evening with an Irish and Ceilidh band Gypsy Rogues, dinner and dancing on Saturday 19th March. Ticket information will follow shortly on the Town Council website.
Take care.
Councillor Val Carter
