Chairman’s Report – Cllr Karen Draycott
Kindness, compassion and love
As I write this report the world has been turned on its head. Many of the areas of life that we took for granted, have either been removed
or severely curtailed. How should we respond to this challenge to our way of life? Through kindness, compassion and love. When all what we thought were important are removed, then our lives default to the basic human needs that will sustain us through this difficult time.
Kindness, compassion and love
This is my last report as Mayor/Chairman
of Thrapston Town Council. May I take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported and encouraged me during the last year. It has truly been one of the most amazing and privileged experiences of my life.
May I wish you all peace, good health and an inner strength to see us through these times.

Essential Works Required around the Lake
Middle Nene Sailing Club have advised that they will be carrying out works around
the lake in the next couple of months at the top end where the bank is eroding.
They are concerned
for the Health & Safety of walkers, fishermen and anyone using that top end pathway, and the integrity of the bank.
They will be installing a 4m wide gate & fencing at the fisherman’s carpark end, and a 1.2m pedestrian gate and fencing near the sluice at the other end of the pathway.
Once the necessary works have been undertaken and the footpath is deemed
secure they will unlock and re- open it again. In the future, it
will be locked at times when conditions are detrimental to the bank and the environment.
Please note that the footpath at this section of the
lake is a permissible footpath, owned and maintained by the
Sailing Club, but used by the public at their own risk.
MNSC are more than happy for the pathway to be used by the community and enjoyed as an amenity for the area, but ask that it is noted that it is private land, that you are using it with their permission and that it is respected.
