Chairman’s Report
As we move into the New Year, we can reflect on
a period that has and is, testing our resilience and our capacity to cope individually and collectively. We are as the saying goes ‘All in this together’.
There is not much to be gained from wishing away these difficult times, every hour of every day is precious, there is peace to be found
in the present moment. We
are not going to become
amazing, because we are
all innately amazing. When
we live life to the full, we will discover just how amazing.
We ended the year with an incident which desecrated our War Memorial (silent soldier) in Coronation Gardens. As a community we felt violated, angry and confused. Why would anyone commit such an act?
Out of the darkness
of despair, anger and heightened emotions, our community (and across the Country) has responded in
a very uplifting and positive way. As I write today in November, over £4,700 has been raised with five offers to replace the silent soldier. We are currently in the process of exploring ideas for the future, relating to the replacement
of the soldier and how to use the funds towards enhancing the War Memorial area in Coronation Gardens.
“Teach me the art of creating islands of stillness, in which I can absorb the beauty of everyday things: clouds, trees, a snatch of music...” Marion Stroud
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a peaceful New Year.

Introducing Thrapston Town Council’s
new Councillor Daniel Worley
Hi, I’m Daniel Worley and I moved to Thrapston with my partner just over a year ago. I currently work for Peterborough Council as their Conservation Officer and have a background in archaeology and planning. You may see me walking my dog ‘Frankenstein’, (he’s usual well behaved) or keeping fit running around the lakes. Working for various councils I understand how distant they seem and I want to use my experience to help
the community better their environment which is why I volunteered to become a Town Councillor.
