                                   Town Awards
Each year residents of Thrapston are given the opportunity to nominate a person or group for a Town Award for their exceptional contribution to the community. The nominations are ratified by the Council and the awards are presented at the Annual Town Meeting. However, this year the town meeting could not be held due to the Covid 19 restrictions.
We are delighted to announce that four awards have been made. These have gone to Ann Gilbert of Thrapston library, East Northants Sharing Some Kindness, The Tiddlers Team and Thrapston Town Juniors Football Club. Our congratulations and thanks go to these well deserved nominees for their contributions to the community helping to make Thrapston a great place to live.
    Anne Gilbert of Thrapston library.
Anne had over 30 nominations and here are some of the comments made:
“Anne has worked tirelessly to keep Thrapston library going, putting in many hours organising key holders and helpers. Without her get up and go Thrapston would not have a library”.
“Anne is the prime mover & very efficient organiser of a volunteer force intent on keeping the Thrapston Library open”.
“Ceaseless work”. “Always positive, cheerful and welcoming”. “Dedication”. “Calm and encouraging”.
“Thrapston Library would be lost without her”.
East Northants Sharing Some Kindness.
“There is a community Facebook group ‘East Northants Sharing Some Kindness’ where people gift items they no longer need in exchange for donations of food for those in difficulty. Other group projects include Christmas dinner parcels, coats for the homeless and a Christmas toy appeal. At times during lockdown the group administrators prepared upwards of 30 meals in a day, in their own time and often using their own funds. The team is so community minded and they deserve the town’s thanks.“
