Wyton and Brampton – Military Wives Choir
Finally, the Wyton and Brampton Military Wives Choir (MWC) have come to the end of the nightmare called Covid. Even in those times of discouragement, we never lost heart, thanks to modern technology and our indefatigable Musical Director. We remained united and continued, undeterred, to keep in touch with long video calls, week after week. Following these online get-togethers, we still had to keep the social distance and sing with
masks donned, it was not an easy task! Now those concerns are passing, and with the end of restrictions, we are slowly restarting with our activities.
The Military Wives Choir is a registered charity and network of 75 choirs at British military bases across the UK and overseas, bringing women in the military community closer together through singing. With over 2,200 members, the MWC network is truly tri-
service (RN, British Army and RAF).
The Brampton and Wyton Military Wives Choir have now resumed meeting in person for rehearsals every week, we are updating our repertoire and the concert calendar is back to filling up with dates. It’s a busy time for the choir in preparation of the various events. On the 2nd of June, for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon Lighting, we have sung “A Life Lived with Grace” at Castle hill - Huntington. The piece was commissioned specifically for the occasion and was sung simultaneously by all Military Wives choirs in the UK and overseas. On the 25th of June we were guests for a concert at RAF Wyton, for this year’s Armed Forces Day. It is always an immense joy for us to perform at our home base, where we feel at ease among friends,
family, and colleagues.
We are always looking forward to welcoming
the new members. For booking or membership enquiries do not hesitate to contact us wytonandbrampton@militarywiveschoirs.org
