Thrapston Charter Fair ...........................................................
The sun shone for Bryn and the Charter Fair was a real winner
We were so blessed this year with the weather, think Bryn ordered that!
It was a wonderful tribute to him, the community turned out in style, happy and wanting to celebrate his life. Thank you Donna and Ryan for opening the fair, you must be so proud of your dad.
The free rides went down very well – we were so pleased we could offer that and we are looking at new and exciting rides for next year.
We hired a proper stage this year and the entertainment both on the stage and in the Plaza was fantastic. Thank you to Steve J our MC, Dreamers and Thrapston Primary School Choir who are always so good as well as Dynamix and Step n Grooves for the excellent Plaza entertainment. The WI did fantastic cream teas in the Plaza and were very welcoming but we are looking at different ways of using the Plaza next year.
We were pleased with our new Bistro area, especially the fabulous tablecloths
generously donated by Zephyr Pennants. We plan to add to that as well as the seating area outside Oakleigh house which was well used throughout the afternoon.
We tweaked a lot of things this year and will continue to do so to keep the Charter Fair fresh and suitable for all ages.
Thank you to the Town Council for sponsoring us with use of The Plaza, to Luke Williams, Chancery Dental, Chevron, King Bouncealot, Thrapston Dental Centre, Bridal Carriages of Northamptonshire, Jolly’s Toys, HOPE and Ben’s Chippy who sponsored us.
Thank you to the many helpers on the day, you know who you are and we can’t do this without you. One very special mention to our youngest helper Cam Cairns (and his dad Gerry) he is a fantastic young man and just loves to help.
A big thank you to you Thrapston for supporting us again this year. We love putting this on and I have the best committee who give up their time to organise it. They work so hard – thank you.
Finally a big shout out to the National Lottery Community Fund for the grant that made it possible to do more this year. We are so proud of the Charter Fair and hope it continues for many years.
