...and about
AGC SPS
As for all, it has been a busy year for the Detachment at 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards. Several OTXs combined with Adventurous Training, success in the sporting arena and a number of team cohesion events have ensured that life at Robertson Barracks has been enjoyable to say the least.
Exceptional performances whilst deployed overseas, in camp, on exercise in the UK and on the sports field has seen the team receive recognition. This year we have had people in receipt of coins and commendations from GOC 3UKXX, Comd SPS 3UKXX, SPS Branch Col, SPS Branch SM and Director Army Sport.
Getting out...
We’re going to have to get it all done today, we’ve more outings planned
With travels to the USA, Kosovo, and Poland the team have been presented some great opportunities this year. From bull riding in Texas, long distance marches in Poland and a weekend half marathon in Swanton Morley it has been a year of firsts for many of the team. The team participated in the Triple Crown Challenge, putting in a respectable performance in the military skills compe- tition. They are now looking forward to entering the March and Shoot in 2024.
There has again been success in several sports this year, whether that be squash, athletics, boxing, basketball, wakeboarding, skiing, or triathlon. There
has been representation at unit level all the way up to Team GB Masters and everything in between.
Mixed in with the busy schedule the Det has ensured that it continues to take advantage of the opportunities that the Army has to offer. Whether that be skiing in Austria, mountain biking in the local area, or quiz nights in Darby’s, these opportunities have ensured the team have had an enjoyable year. It cannot also go without mentioning Estabulos, the all you can eat steak house in Norwich, which has slowly become a firm favourite for the team.
