Due to operational obligations, the outstanding play in defence, as he football squad only participated in fought valiantly to prevent the opposition
LCpl Knuckey said goodbye to the team after his final game before leaving the Regiment to enter the civilian work- force. A very talented and experienced player who held a key role within the team and will be missed greatly. Knuckey spent more than 8 years playing for the QDG and the Welsh Cav family wishes him the very best in the civilian world.
After winning the first game the squad is now expecting to make a strong run in the Cavalry Cup. Noting the team’s continuous improvement and with new, enthusiastic players, the QDG should perform well. With a football trip planned for the near future, the squad will have the opportunity to continue to improve on that important team cohesion and individual development.

two Cavalry Cup games this year. Despite this, they put in a great deal of work covering a significant number of practice sessions and gaining new players.
The Welsh Cavalry faced
the Royal Lancers at home
in the Cavalry Cup semi-
final at the beginning of
the season. The Lancers
took the lead early before
LCpl Jones took a shot over
30 yards, hitting the back
of the net and getting the
home team level. The match ended with a last-minute goal from the Lancers, seeing the Regiment narrowly losing 2-1. The QDG played with great enthu- siasm and determination all the way to the finish. It was good to see Sgt Joshua Howells back in the skipper position, leading the team after a 2-year stint at ATR Winchester.
The Cavalry Cup soon restarted, and the Regiment was up against the Royal Yeomanry at home in the first round. The QDG won 11-1 after putting in a great deal of effort on the training pitch to strengthen their previous areas of weakness. Goal scorers consisted of LCpl Allen, LCpl King, Tpr Njoya, Pte Limbu, and LCpl Sewell. The team demonstrated a great amount of resil- ience coming away with the victory against a tough Royal Yeomanry squad. The team’s newest player, Tpr Wright, was named man of the match for his
from scoring; an impressive debut and promising future for Tpr Wright within the Regimental team.
There are several talented players on the team that represent the RAC. Congrat- ulations to Tpr Brown, Tpr Wright, and LCpl Jones for being chosen to attend the RAC development week. A particular mention goes out to Cpl Donnachie once more for his consistent performance for the Army
U23 squad. He is an incredibly bright player who will undoubtedly join the Army team soon.
