As many will be aware, I moved on from QDG in January 2023 and entered the realm of ERE. Departing from Regimental Duty, I had the privilege of assuming the role of WO1 Leadership at the Centre for Army Leadership (CAL), situated in Sandhurst.
In my capacity as WO1 Leadership, each day presents new challenges. Working within a compact team is much like any other setting and being a specialist at being a generalist has been unavoidable. With only three members in our team, we often find ourselves physi- cally separated. Our weekly and monthly tasks cover a wide spectrum, ranging from recording and publishing podcasts to engaging in outreach activities and briefing diverse audiences across all

rank ranges. Notably, we have experi- enced a significant demand from entities such as the Police, Ambulance Service, Fire Brigade, and the Premier League Managers Association.
Since my tenure at the CAL began, a primary focus has been crafting the inaugural version of the Followership Doctrine note. In tandem with this initia- tive, we organised an annual conference at the National Army Museum and launched both an essay competition and presented awards for the inau- gural Leadership Excellence Awards.
This event attracted virtual participation from 2,000 personnel and had an addi- tional 130 attendees in person. The day provided a valuable platform to spotlight the indispensable role of followership in leadership—an essential reminder that without followers, there is no leader.
The CAL has presented numerous opportunities, including a trip to the United States in October to connect with our counterparts. During this exchange of best practice, we addressed blind spots and forged lasting professional relationships that had been hindered by
